MUSEUMSMuseum of the Jewellery Quarterlocated at 75-79 Vyse Street, Hockley the Museum retraces Birmingham's 250-year-old jewellery and metalworking legacy with live demonstrations & workshop recreations. Set in the uniquely preserved workshops and offices of the Smith & Pepper Jewellery firm, visitors can watch skilled jewellers at work and view Contemporary jewellery made by some of Birmingham's leading designers is also on display. Entrance is free and opening times are listed on our link above. The Pen Room, Museum & Learning Centre.The Pen Room, Unit 3, The Argent Centre, 60, Frederick Street, Hockley, It is said that at the time 75% of the world wrote with a pen made in Birmingham! and a result of such a proud history, the Birmingham Pen Trade Heritage Association, formed in 1996 and in 1997 registered as a charity. The association opened the volunteer-run Pen Room museum in Frederick Street in 2001 and a learning centre was established in an adjoining unit the following year. GALLERIESThe Royal Birmingham Society of Artists - is one of the oldest Art Societies in the UK. Opening way back in 1807, Samuel Lines opened an Academy teaching students, several of whom became famous in the art world. Opened first in 1995 the Jewellery Quarter station on what was named the 'Jewellery Line' which opened with the intention of creating "a third cross city line linking the lines to Worcester and Hereford with those to Stratford-upon-Avon and Leamington Spa. The Midland Metro stop was added with the opening of that system in 1999
